Philosophy of Education
Teaching is very important because students should understand and appreciate the importance of art and learn that everyone is creative and unique in their own way. I am a strong believer that every student should have the opportunity to learn art because it is a skill that helps students to express themselves and think more critically. This is why I want to teach students art because art has helped me to express myself and help me to think more critically around my surroundings. I will help the student to think more critically by having them pick and choose key ideas that resonate with themselves so that they can make the art that they want to make. I will show the students many other artists that relate based on the student’s race, culture or sexuality since it might help them to be more confident to believe in themselves.
I believe that every student learns differently and at their own pace. I know this because I am a student with disabilities that had to learn on my own why that helped me to become successful. One of the methods I will use for my class is to look around and ask them why they chose to make the artwork the way it is so that it helps me to gain an idea how students think and what I can to improve the way I teach the lesson. I do not have any problems with any other methods of teaching; they are just not my style of teaching. This method works for me only since I understand my way of teaching since I did not come from an art background. I will use group work with students since they need to learn cooperation and communication skills in class to prepare them for adulthood. Some of the ways I will use my philosophy into practice is by having the students critique each other's work so that they can build their confidence and communication skills. The main goal for my students is to appreciate art and their own skill level. I believe that every student is unique in their own way. Students should be able to make their own art projects on their own with confidence that they made something unique on their own. I will know that the students met their goals when they said that they felt they made an artwork that they are proud of.
I believe when it comes to art and grades it should be based on the student’s understanding and following the requirements and assignments of the project. Students should not be graded based on skill level of art since not everyone has an art background. When it comes to assessment, students will get instructions to make artworks that are based on their own research. Students will get paper or PDFs of a worksheet that is meant to help a student to build their own ideas for their artwork.
Effective teaching to me looks like when I as the teacher care and empathize with the students and their learning needs. I will make sure to talk to every student if they need help and to see what I can do as an art teacher to help improve their art skills. I will measure my own efficacy by talking to the student and asking them questions. I will know that my teaching efficiency works when the students ask me questions about their artwork or have them trust me to help them with their own problems.
Teaching is very important because every student should have art and a teacher that cares for them. I will talk to each student and make sure they get the help they need. I will create rules that help the students to do well in class and to be more organized. As someone with disabilities I understand that everyone learns differently and learns at their own pace, which has helped me to build empathy towards and their learning needs.

Cover Letter
I have learned many skills of the arts from drawing fundamentals to ceramics. By attending CSU Long Beach, I have gained a lot of skills to become a better artist. I have been teaching art to students for three years. For the most part I teach students one on one. I have worked with students with disabilities and helped students to improve their art skills. I work well with many people and I make sure to help my coworkers as well. I am very aware that art education is mostly taught of Western European artists, which is why I will make sure to show and teach the students about artists that they could relate to. As an art teacher, I will be able to work with students with disabilities since I am someone with a learning disability. I can know and help students with disabilities by communicating with the IEP teachers and see what the students need, to help them learn.
As someone with a disability, I learn that everyone learns differently at their own pace. This has helped me to gain empathy towards students and their learning needs. My goal as an art teacher is to help students to appreciate art and learn that the students are artists as well and they too are very creative. Your students will learn that they can be good at art if they try and learn that they are very artistic in their way. Students should not have to compare themselves to other students that they believe are better than them, which is why I will teach them that the students that feel they are not good at art will learn that they are unique to themselves and good at art as well.
I want to teach in this school since this is the school that will help me to build my own career after I graduate. As an art teacher, I will make sure to include art and or artists that have many backgrounds from race or sexuality. I am very aware of the students’ population that are in your school, specifically Latinx and African American students. I am also aware that your school has a very positive LGBTQA+ community. By showing art and artists that are appropriate to show in school and have your permission as well, I will be able to help students to acknowledge that there are many arts and artists that the students could relate to and connect with which will motivate them to do art. At the same time, this could help students to understand diversity and acceptance with the many groups of people in the school.
I hope reading this letter gives you the impression that I really care about teaching and how I want to help your students to improve their art skills and show their appreciation as well. You if have any more questions about my skills as an artist or teaching, my email address is [email protected].
I am looking forward to teaching in your school and have great communication with both the students and staff workers as well. I will make sure that the students stay on track with the arts and help any other students that need more help as well.
Sincerely,
An Art teacher.
